Where are Solstead candles made?
Every candle is hand-poured in small batches in New Hampshire, USA. Everything that goes into the candle is listed on the What’s in a Solstead candle page.
How long until my order arrives?
Your order ships within 2–3 business days (3–4 during the holiday season). Delivery then takes 5–7 business days anywhere in the US, so expect your candle within 7–10 business days of ordering. You’ll get a tracking email the moment it ships.
Is shipping free?
Yes, on US orders of $69 or more. That covers every gift set, every 13.75 oz candle and any two 9 oz candles. Below $69, shipping is a flat $8.
What if my candle arrives damaged?
We replace it free. Email us at care@thesolstead.com within 7 days of delivery with your order number and two photos:
- The damaged candle still inside the box, before you take it out
- The candle on its own, after you’ve taken it out
That’s all we need to send a replacement. Nothing needs to be sent back.
Can I return or exchange a candle?
Not for a change of mind. A scented candle can’t be resold once it has shipped, so we’d rather say that plainly up front. Anything that arrives damaged, faulty or wrong is always replaced free. Every scent’s notes are listed in the Library so you can read exactly what to expect before you order.
Can I cancel or change my order?
You can cancel within 24 hours of placing the order. After that it’s already in preparation and can’t be cancelled. You can change your shipping address until the order reaches the shipping carrier. Either way, email us at care@thesolstead.com with your order number as soon as you can.
Do you have any offers?
Yes, two. For every two 9 oz candles you buy, in any scents, you get a complimentary 4 oz candle. Every 13.75 oz candle also comes with a complimentary 4 oz candle. You choose its scent.
What sizes do you make?
Three: 4 oz (25–30 hours of burn), 9 oz (40–60 hours) and 13.75 oz (60–80 hours). Each candle page shows which sizes that scent comes in.
How strong are the scents?
Strong enough to fill the room you’re in, whether that’s a bedroom, a living room or a home office, without taking over the whole house. That balance is on purpose: Solstead candles are made for the end of the day, so the fragrance is full and clear but never heavy. Every scent’s top, middle and base notes are listed in the Library.
Why soy wax?
It burns cleaner and slower than paraffin, carries fragrance gently, and washes out of the jar with warm water when the candle is finished. It’s also why you may see frosting or wet spots on the wax. Both are natural and both are explained on the care page.
Are Solstead candles vegan?
Yes. 100% natural soy wax, a cotton-and-paper wick, and fragrance made from plant oils and fine-fragrance ingredients. No animal ingredients, no paraffin, no beeswax. The full list is on the What’s in a Solstead candle page.
Are they safe around pets?
Any burning candle needs a room with fresh air and a spot pets can’t reach. If you have cats, choose a scent without eucalyptus (that means skipping Eucalyptus Lavender Herb and Fresh Balsam), as cats can be sensitive to it.
How do I get the best burn?
Let the first burn go until the melted wax reaches the edge of the jar, keep the wick trimmed short, and don’t leave it burning for hours on end. The care page has the full guide in a minute’s read.
What is The Last Hour Ritual?
Our candle subscription, opening in the new year. Joining now takes only your email: no sale emails before then, and one message when it opens. Before you decide anything, you’ll receive a welcome box with a new scent and testers of others. Then you choose your scents, your size and how often a candle arrives, or you simply keep the box and leave it there. Read how it works.

US orders only for now.
